Mind Storms and the Silent Sea (CD)
William J. Ross

$7.95 audio CD

This recording is not a simple "how to" presentation on meditation, but rather a philosophical dialogue on the necessity of maintaining a practice of meditation in the modern world. According to the Hindu mythology of world cycles, we are now in the fourth Yuga, which is known as the Kali Yuga. It is intructive to note that the Kali Yuga is traditionally symbolized by the color black. This is a period of time when there is great stress and tension in the world. How can we cope with these debilitating forces? How can we live a life that is calm, brotherly, non-acquisitive, and esthetically satisfying in a culture that is filled with aggressiveness, violence, ugliness, and hate? The speaker suggests that it is of paramount importance to engage in the regular practice of meditation in order to avoid the destructive forces of the Kali Yuga and to live a life in harmony with our spiritual ideals. 1984. 43 minutes.

William J. Ross was born and educated in England. In 1923 he went to the United States and after holding various engineering posts was appointed to the U. S. Navy Department. In 1943 Mr. Ross was transferred to Long Beach, California, to help organize the new naval shipyard and to take charge of the Hull Design Section. He retired from the Navy in 1962. During this entire period he worked for the Theosophical Society. His articles and book review appeared regularly in Theosophical journals. He also traveled widely for the Society, lecturing in England, India, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
