Dr. Robert Ellwood is Professor Emeritus of Religion, University of Southern California. A native of Normal, Illinois, he received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. in History of Religions from the University of Chicago.

He was a professor of world religions at the University of Southern California for thirty years from 1967 until his retirement in 1997.
