Masters, Salvation and Us (CD)
Ed Abdill

This White Lotus Day program commemorates the passing of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the principal co-founder of the Theosophical Society. One of the main concepts in the Theosophical philosophy is the idea of cyclicity. Cultures, societies, and individuals all experience transitional periods in which the older established ways of thinking and doing give way to new modes of thought and behavior. Some common examples that are experienced at the individual level are the transition from youth to adulthood, or from middle age to old age, getting married, the loss of a loved one, and changes in one’s career. Major shifts can cause us to experience discomfort, pain, grief, uncertainty, feelings of vulnerability, and confusion. At the same time, these periods hold the potential for inner growth. Ed Abdill encourages us to look to these times of transition as golden opportunities for inner development and transformation. 1992. 62 minutes.

Ed Abdill first learned about Theosophy from the instructor of his two-year Spanish college course. Ed went on to earn a Phi Beta Kappa degree in English and a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from NYU, which subsequently led to a Spanish teaching profession in New York. Seemingly destined to devote his future to Theosophy, the New York Theosophical Society hired Ed to manage their Quest Bookshop after he spent three years teaching Spanish. He managed the bookstore for the next 15 years, during which time he also served six years on the National Board of Directors of the Theosophical Society in America, and as President of the New York Theosophical Society for about nine years. Since 1980, Ed Abdill has been one of the national speakers for the Theosophical Society in America, lecturing in several other countries, including Australia, Brazil, England, and New Zealand.
