The title of this talk comes from a phrase found in the second volume of Madame Blavatsky’s great work The Secret Doctrine. According to Theosophy, the principle of mind (manas in Sanskrit) is that crucial ingredient that makes us human. The scope and range of the human mind covers the objective and subjective worlds, the near and the far, the concrete and the abstract. Using the basic model of a computer, which consists of input, processing, and output, the speaker suggests that the human mind can be described analogously as consisting of feeling, thought, and will. In other words, the mind can best be understood as a process rather than a thing. 1991. 60 minutes.

Adam Warcup is a popular theosophical author and speaker in the English Section of the Theosophical Society.
