Ernest Wood (1883-1965) took an early interest in science and philosophy. He received his advanced education at the Manchester College of Technology. As a young man, he went to India and took up in 1920 the post of Headmaster of Congress High School, preparing students for the University of Madras. After that he became managing secretary of a group of thirty-seven schools and colleges, and was also Principal and President of the Sind National College and the Madanapalle College, of the Universities of Bombay and Madras. Throughout his entire life, he was deeply interested in the Yoga and Vedanta philosophies of India, learning to read them in the original Sanskrit language. During his long residence in India, Professor Wood wrote many books on education, psychology, and Indian philosophy. Available titles by Ernest Wood: Quest Books
